UCCE Tri County Walnut Day

Walnut growers are once again invited to gather in-person for the 2023 annual Tri-County Walnut Day held in a new location, at the UCCE Tulare County Agricultural Building. A small registration fee of $10 may be paid online or at the door, beginning at 7:30 a.m. where coffee and breakfast pastries will be served. The meeting will begin with an industry update from Robert Verloop, the new CEO of the California Walnut Board & Commission. Research updates will follow on the following topics:
– Management of walnut scale, a multi-season process
-Considerations for whole orchard recycling in walnut
-Whole orchard recycling & Botryosphaeria canker and blight disease transmission
-2022 Walnut Quality Issues
-Economic Considerations for Walnut Production
-Strategies for dealing with low chill winters in walnuts
