The Tree & Vine Expo is held every year at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds, in Turlock, California, the heart of North Valley wine grape & tree nut country and is a place where Growers and PCAs gather to learn about the status of the industry, earn 4 hours of PCA credits & 6 hours CCA credits (pending approval), and visit with exhibitors. It is produced in cooperation with the North Valley wine and nut industries. There are nearly 6,000 grape & tree nut growers and PCAs in this area.
State of the Almond and Walnut industry seminars will feature the Almond Alliance of California and the California Walnut Board & Commission. The Stanislaus County Department of Ag will be providing an hour Laws & Regs presentation, and the USDA Farm Service Agency will be present and assist growers in applying for trade mitigation funding and other new programs growers may be eligible for. UC Cooperative Extension Entomology Advisors will share the latest in plant, stink bug, mite and navel orangeworm management. UCCE Orchard Systems Advisor Luke Milliron will be coming down from Sacramento to address walnut growers on blight prevention and management. Michael Frantz from the Turlock Irrigation District will also be there to provide growers with an update on local and state water issues.
This event along with other Malcolm Media Ag Expos has generated nearly $150,000 in scholarship endowments for the viticulture programs at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo, Fresno State, Santa Rosa Junior College and UC Davis.
