Join us from March 2-3, 2021 from 8:00am to 12:30pm, for a two half-day virtual conference with speaking sessions and panels for growers, handlers, and industry partners. - Driving Year-Round Consumer Purchase in a Rapidly Evolving Retail Landscape (8:30am-9:30am PST, March 2)
Join Laurie Demeritt from The Hartman Group for key changes in the retail landscape and what is anticipated for 2021. Iain Forbes (UK) and Don Ladhoff (US), CWB retail program coordinator for case studies of successful retail programs and how they have adapted to the current climate. Lastly, walnut grower/handler Michael Andersen will talk about the importance of quality in driving consumption and motivating retailers to consider walnuts throughout the year.
- Advancing health research on the benefits of California walnuts (10:00am-11:00am PST, March 2)
Join Jeffrey B. Blumberg, PhD, Professor Emeritus, Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, Tufts University in Boston and chair of the CWC Health Research Advisory Group, shares insight on approaches to health research and the important role of industry funding. David Baer, PhD, Research Leader, USDA, ARS, Beltsville Human Nutrition Research Center, Food Components and Health Laboratory, will give an overview of CWC Health Research Priorities: Addressing New Frontiers. Carol Sloan, RD, CWC Health Research Director will wrap up session with an update on the state of current and future directives for walnut research.
- Advocating for Future Success – Trade in 2021 & Beyond (11:00am-12:00pm PST, March 2)
Join Darci Vetter, current Global Lead, Public Affairs & Vice Chair, Agriculture with Edelman, former Chief Agricultural Negotiator for the United States Trade Representative and Charles (Chuck) F. Conner, current President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives (NCFC), former Deputy Secretary for the US Department of Agriculture for perspectives on the trade outlook, 2021 & beyond. The session will conclude with an overview of CWC engagement and perspective from Issues Management Committee Chair, Mr. Bill Carriere, Carriere Family Farms & CWC CEO, Michelle Connelly.
