Each year, California employers are faced with newly enacted statutes and new case law impacting their day-to-day operations. The new standards frequently require employers to modify their policies and procedures both in writing and in practice. 2020 is no different, as there are new legal standards relating to classifying individuals as independent contractors, employee privacy, harassment and discrimination, lactation accommodation, terms of settlement agreements and employee leave rights, among others.
