Increasing Presence and Damage of Brown Marmorated Stink Bug in Oregon Hazelnuts

While hazelnut growers have been dealing with higher input costs and less than ideal nut prices, they cannot afford to cut costs on their pest monitoring and management practices.  An invasive pest, known as brown marmorated stink bug has taken a particular fondness of hazelnuts and is spreading across most of the major hazelnut growing regions of Oregon.  Watch this video interview with Oregon State University Entomologist Vaughn Walton as he provides insights on monitoring and controlling this pest and read more about it in Pacific Nut Producer Magazine.
